Green Drinks is a bi-monthly networking event for environmental professionals in San Luis Obispo County. Central Coast Bioneers is the featured presenter at the next meeting, on Thursday, September 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Steynberg Gallery, 1531 Monterey Street. We will be showing the 2011 plenary address by Anim Steel, Director of National Programs at The Food Project in Boston. Since 2003, Anim has provided leadership training for over 700 young people and forged a network of over 5,000 young activists and farmers. In 2008, he co-founded the Real Food Challenge, a campaign to direct $1 billion of college food purchases away from industrial agriculture towards local, fair, sustainable and humane sources. Tessa Salzman from Cal Poly’s Real Food Collaborative, will be on hand to talk about what her team is doing locally to meet the Real Food Challenge. Thank you, Alison Cebulla and Green Drinks for hosting us.
