Raffle Winner Announcement: Salinas River Canvas Painting

We’re excited to announce that Audrey Taub is the winner of the Salinas River painting raffle!

The artwork was designed by artist Carol Paulsen and created live at the Central Coast Bioneers Conference, celebrating the beauty and ecological significance of the Salinas River.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this raffle. Your engagement helps uplift environmental art, and climate work across the Central Coast. Congratulations again to Audrey on taking home this meaningful piece!

Free Repair Café at Grange – February 21

Free Repair Café happening Saturday, February 21st from 1:00–4:30 PM at the Grange Hall on 13th Street in Grover Beach.

Repair Cafés are community-led events where volunteers help repair broken items—such as small appliances, electronics, and clothing—keeping useful items out of landfills while building skills and community connections.

Into the Heart of the Garbage Patch: A Film & Conversation with Captain Charles Moore

Join ECOSLO and SLOCCE for a powerful film of Captain Moore’s personal journey in the fight against plastic pollution.

Captain Moore will present a compelling documentary produced by the Korean Broadcasting System, featuring his groundbreaking research aboard the Oceanographic Research Vessel Algalita. Marking 20 years of scientific study, this film offers the first-ever professional documentation from inside the Garbage Patch itself—an extraordinary and eye-opening look at one of the most urgent environmental challenges of our time.

This special event is co-hosted by ECOSLO and SLO County Citizens’ Climate Education, highlighting the power of local organizations working together to inspire climate action. You can learn more about SLOCCE’s work here.
