2012 Anne McMahon Scholar lands position with energy efficient consulting firm

We were recently in touch with Sarah Schneider, the recipient of the 2012 Central Coast Bioneers Anne McMahon Scholarship. Sarah finished her Master of Public Policy degree at Cal Poly, with a focus in collaborative policymaking and environmental justice. After graduating in June, Sarah moved to Oakland to begin a position as project manager with Energy Solutions. “I research, analyze and propose energy and water-use efficiency measures for the Title 20, Title 24, and CAL Green rule making processes,” says Sarah. “I also work closely with the Cool Roof Rating Council, a non-profit organization which maintains a non-biased, third-party roof product rating system.”  It’s not all work for Sarah who, in her spare time, hikes, camps, backpacks, bikes, dances and plays on the Trinity and Russian Rivers.

Every year, Central Coast Bioneers has awarded a scholarship in the memory of Anne McMahon, a prominent political activist and beloved leader of the environmental community, who was taken from us in December 2009. The scholarship is open to individuals, 18 years and older, who have demonstrated leadership potential in the fields of public policy, politics, education or journalism. Application as still be accepted for the 2013 conference.
