Reminder on important events this week

Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 7-9 pm – Join leading environmental advocates, oil train experts, and community members for a forum on the public health, safety, and climate threats posed by the proposed Phillips 66 oil train terminal, and what we can do to stop it. Free. SLO Library Community Room, 995 Palm Street, SLO.  Hosted by the Sierra Club, Santa Lucia Chapter.

Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 – The SLO County Planning Commission Hearing to consider the Las Pilitas Resources LLC (Oster) Mine proposal continues in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, SLO County Government Center, 1055 Monterey St. Room D-170.  This agenda item is estimated to begin in the afternoon session after the lunch break is over @1:30 p.m.  It takes time and endurance for people to continue to appear at these hearings, and it is a common applicant strategy to continue to create delays.  Hopefully, the Planning Commission will respect the planning staff’s recommendation for denial and this will be the final hearing at the Planning Commission.  Margarita Proud thanks you for your continued support.

Saturday, Feb. 7,2015 – The SLO County bus to the Oakland March for Real Climate Leadership is filling up!  Get your ticket now.  E-mail Jeanne Blackwell of SLO Clean Water Action at jeannewater@gmail.com to make sure there is still space and if there is, get your ticket by choosing SLO Clean Water Option and putting in the comment field it is for the Oakland bus.
