History

In February 2010, three Los Osos, CA residents, Celia Zaentz, Stacey Hunt, and Michael Jencks came together to found Ecologistics®, Inc. with the intent of introducing the California Central Coast to the national Bioneers conference, which brings people together across the spectrum of society to work on restoring and sustaining our planet.

The founders also wanted to provide a stage for celebrating the work of local visionaries who were addressing environmental and social challenges in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Monterey Counties.

Since its inception, Ecologistics® has been convening groups of dedicated, caring people to learn about and discuss solutions to the most pressing problems of our time. We have hosted thirteen Central Coast Bioneers and several Bioneers Showcases at Cal Poly, and in Santa Barbara. In addition to the national and local conference speakers and performance artists, we have presented over 150 workshops, field trips, lectures, and films.

We have put on five Carrizo Colloquiums, two Salinas River Symposia, started a Critical Conversations series, hosted a 3-day Deep Ecology Collaboratory, and currently provide Fiscal Sponsorship for over 50 organizations.

In the past, our focus was on education and inspiration, but now we believe it is time for more direct action. We must change our culture to a society that values the Earth and all its living creatures.
