Audrey Taub grew up in the Hudson River Valley in New York State, the hometown of folk singer & river steward, Pete Seeger. Unbeknownst to her, she was steeped in a culture of stewardship for our waterways. She went to college at SUNY Potsdam and graduated with a MA in Mathematics, worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co in downtown Manhattan before realizing the materialistic American Dream was not her dream. In 2005, Audrey moved to SLO County, and currently resides in Atascadero, near the Salinas River, with her husband and 3 children. The SLO Beaver Brigade was birthed in the fall of 2019 at a friend’s house in SLO during a conversation around Climate Change.  It became a personal commitment, their contribution to climate regeneration. Since then, the SLO Beaver Brigade has been providing guided educational walks, monthly river cleanups, educational talks, support for Dr. Emily Fairfax’s research and booths at the SLO farmers market to educate our County on the benefits of beavers to our watersheds.
