Come to the May 12 BOS Hearing on the Las Pilitas Quarry Appeal
The February decision by the San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission to deny the Las Pilitas Quarry has been appealed to the Board of Supervisors. The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12 at 9:00am in the County Government Center, 1055 Monterey Street at Santa Rosa. The Department of Planning and Building has recommended the project be denied. The environmental review process has identified significant and unavoidable impacts to the town of Santa Margarita, residences nearby to the proposed project site, and all along the proposed haul route (Hwy. 58). BUT actual evidence that overwhelmingly supports denial could be ignored by the Board of Supervisors without strong attendance from concerned members of the public. This project would benefit a few individuals but irreversibly erode the character and future livability of our entire community.
Your presence at this hearing is extremely important if we want to defeat this quarry. You CAN make a difference in the outcome by making your voice heard. More information at the Margarita Proud website.
