Dynamic afternoon panel on Green New Deal scheduled for CCBioneers

While it would be great for the planet if a national Green New Deal was adopted, the Central Coast isn’t waiting around for Washington.  Green New Deal aspirations and calls to action are already being designed and implemented in a 5-county region, including San Luis Obispo’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2035.   Following the Zoom interactive presentation at 1:30 pm at the Central Coast Bioneers Conference by Mark Jacobson of Stanford University on the “Impact of Green New Deal Plans on Costs, Jobs, Health, and Climate in the United States and 143 Countries,” we are going to take it down to the micro level with a panel of local organizations dedicated to making the Green New Deal a reality here on the Central Coast.  Please join us for a discussion and Q&A with Eric Veium of the SLO Climate Coalition, Ben Eichert, Director of GreenPower (based in Monterey County), Michael Chiacos, Energy & Climate Program Director of the Community Environmental Council (based on Santa Barbara), and Robert Barnett, farmer and organizer at Heart and Soil Farms.   Advance tickets on sale through Thursday, January 30.  Doors open at 8:30 am on Saturday, February 1, conference begins at 9:00 am.
