Filmmaker Justice Whitaker accepted for fiscal sponsorship
The Ecologistics board is delighted to announce that it is the fiscal sponsor for filmmaker Justice Whitaker’s current project “The Trauma Cycle,” a documentary focusing on his father’s service in the U.S. military. Justice was born and raised on the Central Coast where he developed a passion for storytelling and lens-based arts. Justice’s love for the camera lens drove him to New York City where he received his bachelor’s degree in Film and Television Production from New York University. Justice began to work with diasporic communities, while living and studying in Johannesburg, Accra, and Rio De Janeiro for more than half of his undergraduate degree. Telling stories of the African diaspora has become the core focus of Justice’s artistic career. Justice spent ten years working as a digital media educator in Brooklyn, and Santa Fe University before shifting towards his love of writing as his main medium for storytelling. In 2012 Justice committed himself to his career as a writer and has been awarded for multiple pieces of writing at international festivals. He is dedicated to advancing social justice through his work as a writer and is invested in sharing his craft with young creators in the interest of expanding the reach of cinematic storytelling. Justice’s last documentary “Kut to be the Best” was an official selection of the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. Justice is married and lives with his wife in Brooklyn, NY. Welcome aboard, Justice!
