Free guild planting workshop at the Blue C Community Garden
Jim Cole of the Permaculture Guild will give a presentation on Saturday, July 18 from 1-2 pm at the Blue C Community Garden, 1968 11th Street, Los Osos on guild planting. This interesting permaculture concept involves designing a miniature ecosystem in your garden by intermingling appropriate and complementary plants to boost nitrogen, improve soil quality, resist pests and even save water.
Last month’s garden talk on growing and using medicinal herbs by Hope Merkle of Los Osos Valley Nursery was very informative. Hope brought examples of all of the plants discussed and provided a list of herbs that can be locally grown and their medicinal properties, and recipes for spice blends and seasonings.
