Noted author to speak at Central Coast Bioneers Conference
Paul Engler, co-author of This Is An Uprising: How Nonviolent Revolt is Shaping the Twenty-First Century, will be speaking on movement ecology at the 9th annual Central Coast Bioneers Conference, Saturday, November 3 at the Oak Glen Pavilion in the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden. Engler will conduct an afternoon workshop on how great social movements of the past can guide the current fight for justice. He will cover how to sustain a progressive movement, even in times of burnout, disillusionment, or apathy. Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org called This Is An Uprising a “landmark book,” and author and activist Naomi Klein called it “indispensable – a genuine gift to social movements everywhere.”
“We are thrilled to bring someone of Paul Engler’s caliber to the Central Coast,” says Ted Hamilton, board member and program director for Ecologistics, Inc. “With many environmental and social justice organizations working for progressive change in their own ways, Paul’s training will show us how to maximize our effectiveness, and how each group’s efforts can fit in with a larger movement for social and climate justice.” Registration for the conference now open at www.ecologistics.org
