Asian American & Pacific Islanders of San Luis Obispo

Asian American & Pacific Islanders of San Luis Obispo (AAPI SLO) raises awareness of inequities in SLO County while simultaneously strengthening the existing AAPI community in SLO County. Mia Shin and Kaela Lee co-founded the grassroots organization in 2021 in response to the rising hate incidents and crimes faced among AAPI residents here and across the nation. The defining events that birthed the organization were the STOP AAPI HATE rally and march held in San Luis Obispo and the inaugural AAPI SLO Festival held at the San Luis Obispo Public Market. The organization partners with college students, long-time residents, business owners, professionals, and allies to create a healthy and diverse SLO community.
