R.A.C.E. Matters to co-sponsor Bias at SLO International Film Festival
R.A.C.E. Matters, in conjunction with Diversity Coalition of SLO County, Police and Community Together, Cal Poly Black Faculty and Staff and Erica Stewart, is bringing to the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival a new thought-provoking documentary by Robin Hauser (Code: Debugging the Gender Gap). As humans we are biased, yet few of us are willing to acknowledge it. We confidently make snap judgments but are shockingly unaware of the impact of our assumptions. Bias, a fascinating film featuring local resident Blake Irving, takes us on a journey to uncover hidden biases and explore how unconscious bias affects relationships, workplaces, our justice system and technology. Bias contemplates whether it’s possible to de-bias our brains.
The film will be show three times during the film festival:
Wednesday, March 13, 7:00 pm, SLO Brew The Rock
Thursday, March 14, 5:00 pm, SLO Brew The Rock
Friday, March 15, 7:00 pm, Downtown Cinemas
Director and producer Robin Hauser will be in attendance to answer questions at all three screenings. For more about the film and to watch the trailer, click here.
