When we say “family plot” we don’t mean for burial
Thanks to great community support, the Blue C Community Garden now has its first three gardeners. Pictured above is Lucy Norwood who, with her husband Kevin, moved to Los Osos from Rawlins, Wyoming in August. They have built two of three raised beds on their plot and have planted lettuce, chard, broccoli, bok choy, peas, carrots, radishes, chives, kale and Brussels sprouts. They will complete their third bed in the spring and are looking forward to planting melons. The Norwoods love having a growing season of more than a few months. The November day we took this picture, it was 70° in Los Osos. “I checked the weather in Rawlins,” Lucy grinned, “and it was 14 below.”
