The event raises community awareness of the plight of whales and other sea creatures that face ship strikes, Navy sonar, seismic testing, offshore fracking, ocean dumping, oil drilling and radiation. The celebration will feature children’s art, crafts and games, a mermaid and Hawaiian shirt contest, and speakers on ocean issues.

Wallace “J.” NicholsOne of the 2014 National Bioneers keynote addresses we will be featuring at this year’s Central Coast Bioneers Conference is “I Wish You Water” by marine biologist, activist, community organizer and author Wallace “J.” Nichols.
