Central Coast Bioneers news
Join us for the 5th annual Central Coast Bioneers Conference, October 24-25 at the SLO Grange. Early bird registration for the conference expires August 15, so get your passes now.
Come check out our booth at the 3rd annual Thank You Whales Celebration at the Avila Beach Community Center, August 16 from 9:30-3:30. The event raises community awareness of the plight of whales and other sea creatures that face ship strikes, Navy sonar, seismic testing, offshore fracking, ocean dumping, oil drilling and radiation. The celebration will feature children’s art, crafts and games, a mermaid and Hawaiian shirt contest, and speakers on ocean issues.
One of the 2014 National Bioneers keynote addresses we will be featuring at this year’s Central Coast Bioneers Conference is “I Wish You Water” by marine biologist, activist, community organizer and author Wallace “J.” Nichols.
The cognitive and emotional benefits of healthy oceans and waterways have been celebrated through art, song, romance and poetry throughout human history. Mr. Wallace will dive deeper and explore our blue minds through the dual lenses of evolutionary biology and cognitive science, reminding us that we are water.
