Emerge California alumni win their 2014 elections
Emerge California is an Oakland-based organization that identifies and encourages women to run for higher office and then trains them to make that happen.
Some of you may remember the workshop given by Kimberly Ellis, executive director of Emerge California at the 2013 Central Coast Bioneers Conference. Emerge California reports that 18 of its trainees won their elections in 2014. These offices included city council, board of education, board of supervisors, college trustees and, yes, even the new mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf. We celebrate Emerge California and its passion for giving women a voice in California.
More good news – Heidi Harmon is now enrolled in the Emerge California program and is being trained as we speak for another run for the State Assembly in 2016.
