Natural burial is now available in SLO County
A small group of locals, dedicated to simple, earth-friendly burial, have been searching for a county site for several years. Last year, we were contacted by Ed Bixby, president of the national Green Burial Council. He has been buying neglected historic cemeteries around the nation, tidying them up, and offering natural burial. We are grateful to have found someone who has the vision and already has had the practical success of establishing and maintaining multiple sites. You can visit his website, destinationdestinymemorials.com.
Ed has purchased the pioneer cemetery on an oak-studded knoll near Creston. He also has an option to buy an adjoining ten acres of open space. He is inviting the public to a family-friendly OPEN HOUSE to celebrate Earth Day-weekend on SUNDAY, APRIL 24, from 1:00 to 4:00, at the Creston Cemetery, 5762 Little Farm Road, Creston. There will be presentations for the adults, crafts for the kids, and light refreshments. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the oak-tree shade.
If you have questions, Ed welcomes phone calls: (609) 628-2297.
