Breaking News: Jason McLennan as Friday Night Keynote for 2011 Conference

Zugunruhe Book CoverYes, Jason McLennan himself, live and in color! Central Coast Bioneers and C4 (California Central Coast Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council) are honored to announce this internationally acclaimed green design visionary as the keynote speaker Friday night. Solarponics and the Cal Poly College of Architecture and Environmental Design, Hearst Lecture Series are sponsoring McLennan’s appearance. A highly sought after consultant and speaker, McLennan is one of the most influential people in the green building movement. He is author of The Philosophy of Sustainable Design, used as a textbook at more than 60 colleges and universities.

McLennan is CEO of the Cascadia Green Building Council, instigator of the Living Building Challenge, and co-creator of Pharos (an advanced building material rating system for North America). McLennan has raised standards for green constructing by encouraging architects to strive to create the best, most ecologically sound buildings possible rather than simply using fewer harmful materials.

Also exciting is the recent publication of McLennan’s fourth book, Zugunruhe. Pronounced tsuk-un-ruhe, the term refers to the phenomenon when, preceding times of migration, a species becomes agitated. McLennan believes this restlessness is happening now among people desiring a sustainable future. Copies of Zugunruhe will be sold and a book signing will take place Friday evening following the lecture.

Don’t miss this inspiring keynote by one of the leading-edge architects helping raise the sustainability bar: Friday, October 14, 2011, San Luis Obispo Vet’s Hall. See our website for more details and how to register.
