City of SLO hosts Climate Party

SLO Climate Coalition
joyfully participated in the recent August 13 Climate Party hosted by the City of SLO. It was a beautiful, warm day at Sinsheimer Park! The City showed off its own climate programs and had assembled a variety of local key organizations working on climate solutions.

SLO Climate Coalition members showed up at its two booths with great enthusiasm to represent its three flagship programs: Green Transportation, Uniting the Central Coast for Action, and Resilient SLO Challenge. It also celebrated its five years of climate leadership with cupcakes, cookies, and a button-making activity.

Green Transportation is working to increase the use of electric vehicles and other electric modes of transportation – primarily through education and accessibility. Join their upcoming events for National Drive Electric Week in late September. There will be a webinar, Farmers’ Market Showcase, and a Drive and Ride Event. Find out more!

Uniting the Central Coast for Action works with individuals and environmental organizations in the five counties served by Central Coast Community Energy. Together, they collaborate on presenting educational webinars and advocating for just and bold energy policy at local, regional, and state levels.

Resilient SLO Challenge is a program developed by the Micro-Community Collaborative. Resilient SLO Challenge is a web-based platform which offers the participant an easy-to-use tool to determine their carbon footprint and reduce it with practical solutions.

Don Maruska was there with his latest book, Solve Climate Change Now. He signed and sold his books and generously donated his earnings to the Coalition.
