Ecologistics to co-sponsor The Tree Prophet at the SLO Film Festival
Ancient old growth trees found an unlikely savior in a poor, uneducated, chain smoking nurseryman from Northern Michigan who, after a brush with death, made it his mission to save them. The Tree Prophet tells the story of David Milarch who, with no money and sheer determination, is creating the Archangel Ancient Tree Archive to propagate the world’s most important old growth trees before they are gone. The film follows David’s efforts to start this project, learn by doing, and attract a loyal following. David’s ultimate goal is to reforest the Earth with the offspring of these trees to provide the myriad of beneficial ecosystem services essential for all life forms to thrive. You will come away from this film inspired by someone who is not afraid to tackle a nearly impossible project with absolutely no background or training. The film is co-sponsored by Ecologistics and Pacific Wildlife Care and will screen three times at the Palm Theatre during the festival: 10:30 am on Saturday, March 17 (with A River’s Last Chance), 1:15 pm on Saturday, March 17 (with The Cat That Changed America) and Sunday, March 18 at 1:15 pm (with The Cat That Changed America).
