Latest release for Ecologistics Podcast Series
In 2012, Ecologistics featured a pre-Central Coast Bioneers field trip out to Wind Wolves Preserve in Kern County, the largest nonprofit preserve on the West Coast. Wind Wolves is part of a preserve system established by The Wildlands Conservancy. The system is composed of seventeen preserves encompassing 145,000 acres of diverse mountain, valley, desert, river and oceanfront landscapes. The Ecologistics team interviewed Landon Peppel, Regional Director for TWC who is based at Wind Wolves about what it is like managing a large nature preserve. We discuss why private preserves are now so important in today’s world, when government-owned national parks and monuments are threatened by the whims of whatever administration is in power.
