New addition – a critical conversation with author and nuclear abolitionist Harvey Wasserman

Harvey Wasserman

Veteran activist and journalist Harvey Wasserman will be leading a critical conversation on energy, democracy, and Diablo Canyon, sponsored by Codepink and Ecologistics, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Taste, 2900 Broad Street.

Wasserman, author of Solartopia! Our Green Powered Earth and radio host of Solartopia Green Power and Wellness Show!, is an outspoken advocate  for election protection, birth of a true eco-democracy and against King CONG (Coal, Oil, Nukes, Gas). The event is on the eve of Wasserman’s planned announcement and launch of a campaign, with Codepink Women for Peace entitled The New Ratepayer Revolt: “Ratepayers, Puppies, and Babies for Closing Diablo.”

Wasserman who is credited with first coining the phrase “No Nukes” in 1973, and sometimes refers to himself as a “nuclear abolitionist,” together with Codepink organizer  Cynthia Papermaster, is expected to announce on Sunday, October 26  a campaign for PG&E customers to put their utility payments in escrow until the PUC and NRC decommission the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

Suggestion donation: $5. Hors d’oeuvers and no-host wine and beer available.

A brunch will be held on Sunday October 26th at Steynberg Gallery, 1531 Monterey Street at 10:00 a.m. to launch the new campaign.  Suggested donation $12.  Please RSVP directly to Cynthia Papermaster at Cynthia_papermaster@yahoo.com and put “Harvey” in the subject line.
