Field trip to Ocean Friendly Gardens

Urban runoff from gardens and hard surfaces is the #1 source of ocean pollution. However these features can be made to prevent runoff and flooding and still be beautiful using the principles of conservation, permeability and retention. Come see two amazing examples in Shell Beach where these principles have been put into practice. The field trip will be led by landscape designer and contractor Robert Nieto, the director of the San Luis Obispo chapter of the Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Gardens campaign. Robert has over 20 years of experience building gardens on the Central Coast since graduating from Cal Poly in 1992. The field trip will depart the Monday Club at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 27.
