GreenWorks open house to be held at Liberty High School
All are invited to the open house on Saturday, December 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Liberty High School’s outdoor classroom behind the softball field at 800 Niblick Road in Paso Robles. Students of the school’s GreenWorks class will be on hand to demonstrate their projects, which include a rainwater catchment system, a greenhouse, a plant nursery, native and drought-tolerant landscaping, and a solar electric system. A selection of student artwork, plants and fruit trees grown by students will be on sale. Come learn and shop for the holidays!
The outdoor classroom is operated through a partnership between nonprofit One Cool Earth and the Liberty High School GreenWorks class. One Cool Earth, an exhibitor for the last three years at the Central Coast Bioneers Conference, provides staff and materials to develop and maintain the site at no cost to the school district. Students from the GreenWorks class gain high school credit, job-skills training and work experience implementing projects at the site. One Cool Earth is pleased to announce that Topaz Solar Farms owner MidAmerican Solar and First Solar, builder and operator of the Topaz Solar Farm join together in sponsoring the Liberty Continuation High School’s GreenWorks program and open house. MidAmerican and First Solar were also generous contributors to the Central Coast Bioneers Conference.
